If there's one thing I'd love to do, it's to pack up my kids and go for a run while pushing them in a stroller. Sounds easy, right? Except, if you've ever looked at jogging strollers, you know they're not cheap. And jogging strollers for two kids? Hahaha, I'd love to pay for college for these two instead.
With that said, I do have a bike trailer that we received second-hand from a friend. It works fine on the bike and has ample space for both kids, plus storage space to stash sweatshirts, snacks, and water bottles. But it's just that - a bike trailer. I'd like to figure out how to convert it to an actual jogging stroller.
There are kits I can buy and follow online, but it's mostly how to convert a jogging stroller to a bike trailer, and not the reverse, which is what I need. The trailer/stroller is also assumed to be originally designed for conversion; I, on the other hand, have no idea what kind of model my trailer is, and I can only guess as to the year.
Is there a way I can make some kind of handle-thingy so I can push my kids? Because that would be awesome. And even if I can find a kit to make the conversion, will it include directions like "....and then weld Part A to Part B"? Because I don't do that.
I don't want to buy a jogging stroller for two because of the afore-mentioned cost. Also, I have a feeling my eldest will only be good for the trailer for another year, if that (because let's face it: running with TWO big kids is a workout in and of itself). I also hate the idea of having to buy another "thing," when I would be much happier just making the trailer dual-purpose.
Got any tips? I'm thinking of calling my favorite local bike shop and see if they have any ideas.
The Schwinn Tourismo is nice and not at all as $$ as a Bob. I jog with a 2.25 year old and 0.5 year old (I know, weird in decimals!) and they weight about 45 lbs together and it doesn't feel much different than the single jogger I have. Good luck on marathoning!
