I realized that I don't really discuss my workouts on this blog. Good gravy, I'm woefully behind.
I thought I'd start with my ode to the kettlebell. Never seen one? It looks - wait for it - just like a kettle, with a rounded body and an arched handle. Only it weighs about a million times more than your standard tea kettle. I think they're easier to grip than your garden-variety dumbbell, and can really help your arms get toned.
I started using a kettlebell about six months ago, slowly lifting one up at a time with both hands grasped around the handle. I can see muscle definition now, and my arms don't look so flabby. I do ten reps at a time, and sometimes I do the thing where I take the bell by one hand and stretch my sides with it. At that stage in my workout, I usually remember how sore I am the next day, and then I stop. I also think about kettle chips, and then I get hungry for lunch. My mind, it is complex.
I love it, and I think it's a great asset to any sort of workout routine. I think lifting helps me when I pump my arms during my runs, and I can feel that my back and stomach have become more rigid and up-right since I started lifting.
